Pelham Grenville Wodehouse (1881–1975) was a British author and humorist, widely regarded as one of the greatest comic writers in the English language. Born in Guildford, England, he began his career as a journalist before gaining fame through his novels, short stories, and plays. Wodehouse created iconic characters such as the valet Jeeves and his hapless employer Bertie Wooster, as well as the witty Psmith. His works are known for their brilliant wordplay, light-hearted tone, and satirical take on British aristocracy and society. Despite living much of his life in the United States and France, Wodehouse remained a quintessentially English voice in literature. He was knighted in 1975, shortly before his death at the age of 93.
